This non-credit course serves the administrative and academic purpose of designating the successful completion of the career assessment planning module and advising session, the first in the Career Pathways sequence. This self-assessment module will encourage critical thinking, reasoning and reflection on the part of students in the context of career exploration utilizing career assessment software and sessions with advisors to discuss career planning. Students will consider their interests, values and strengths in alignment with various career options and preferences and receive input on next steps.

EXCEL EXPERT CERTIFICATION PREP (BADM 120): This course prepares the student for the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Expert certification exam in Microsoft Excel. Students will learn to navigate Mircorsoft Excel software and become familiar with Excel's features and capabilities. Ultimately, students will build their proficiency and become prepared for taking the MOS Expert certification exam. MOS Expert certification is a credential recognized by organizations around the world and attests to the holder's proficiency in a particular Microsoft Office product. Students will predominantly achieve proficiency through hands on exercises, instructor demonstrations, and individualized instructor guidance. In addition, students will take practice exams that emulate the official certification exam. The course covers all of the topics required for the certification exam.

| BADM 210 - BUSINESS AND SUSTAINABILITY |

This course examines the business rationale for sustainability as fairness to future
generations, and analyzes hdw sustainability as the triple bottom line impacts
organizations and their functioning. This course takes up the challenge of working out ethical and strategic approaches to impact analysis from within a holistic sustainability frame. The course covers concepts such as socio-ethical impact, competitive advantage and environment impact. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) and Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) as well as sustainability models of for-profit and non-profit organizations will be explored. Students in this course will focus on the business imperative for sustainability, and the ways in which the ethical case can be made for a shift in direction toward sustainability. They will come to appreciate the ethical dimensions of business operations, and understand the value proposition for sustainability action. This course has been cross listed with SUST210.

This is an introductory course on entrepreneurship, which includes the generation and testing of innovative business ideas and the role of entrepreneurship in society. Topics will include entrepreneurial decision-making,
developing ideas into ventures, managing growth and planning an exit.
Throughout the semester, students will evaluate the business skills and commitment necessary to successfully operate an entrepreneurial venture and be exposed to the challenges and rewards of entrepreneurship. Students will take an “inward journey”, exploring themselves, their decisions, skill sets and goals to determine if and how entrepreneurship can play a role in their lives. Students will also be introduced to entrepreneurship from an economic perspective and the concepts of social, sustainable and environmental entrepreneurship/stewardship will be explored. Classes will include participatory lectures, case studies and hands-on exploratory activities. Students will develop a company pitch and start-up roadmap and be introduced to the skills and tools necessary to start and grow a successful venture - the “Entrepreneurial Tool Set”.

The ability to identify and deal with business ethics issues is a priority for today’s
corporations. Well-publicized ethical and legal lapses at a number of prominent firms have highlighted the need for orga.nizations to integrate ethics and responsibility into all business decisions. Accordingly, students need to develop the ability to discern whether specific business practices are not just legal but also beneficial, moral, and appropriate for all stakeholders. Using the ethical frameworks of utilitarianism, deontological ethics and virtue ethics, the course will investigate some ofthe more common areas in which ethical conflicts arise in the business setting and propose a number of methodologies for addressing them.
The students will analyze ethical implications of the global distribution of power and
resources and examine assumptions about individual and group identity. The course will also allow students to practice reflective inter/intra-personal skills and demonstrate logic and reasoning skills.

Strategic Management is the interdisciplinary capstone course for graduating business school students. It integrates all the functional areas of organizations and their management from the perspective of the top management team. Students analyze internal and external environmental factors influencing the determination of company objectives and the development and implementation of related strategies and policies. Students apply knowledge acquired from prior business and liberal arts courses--together with new concepts and frameworks taught in strategic management--as they carry out senior-level case-related assignments and participate in a business simulation.

The course provides students with the fundamental concepts and tools needed to understand the emerging role of data analytics in organizations. Through lectures, hands on analyses, and various assignments, students learn how to apply basic business analytics tools in a spreadsheet environment. Students will become with familiar with advanced Microsoft Excel functions and the use of Excel in solving analytical problems. Students also learn how to communicate with analytics professionals to effectively use and interpret analytic models and results for making better business decisions. The course covers managerial statistical tools in descriptive analytics and predictive analytics, including regression. Other topics covered include forecasting, risk analysis, simulation, data mining, and decision analysis. Emphasis is on applications, concepts and interpretation of results as well as conducting statistical analyses. Students form groups to collect and analyze data, and to write and present a final report.

Business Law, Ethics & Regulatory Pronouncements is a course that will consist of an in-depth study of law and the regulatory requirements impacting the complex global business environment. This course is designed to expand upon the introduction to law, contracts, business organizations and corporate law examined during Business Law I. This course will provide students with an in—depth understanding of the complexities of law in the business sector via the examination of more complex legal and business issues, many of which may be tested on the regulatory component of the Uniform CPA exam.
This course will include an analysis and discussion of the corporate laws and regulatory pronouncements governing the complex business decision-making process. The class will examine such diverse topics as: corporate tax issues, merger and acquisitions issues, liability and contingency issues including bankruptcy and global regulatory reporting requirements. In addition, we will discuss the impact of sales and lease contracts; negotiable financing instruments and banking in detail; examine secured transactions, creditors’ rights and bankruptcy as a fundamental business strategy tool and the impact of debt forgiveness on legal and reporting decision-making issues.
