BADM 503 - BUSINESS LAW, ETHICS & REGULATORY PRONOUNCEMENTS
Business Law, Ethics & Regulatory Pronouncements is a course that will consist of an in-depth study of law and the regulatory requirements impacting the complex global business environment. This course is designed to expand upon the introduction to law, contracts, business organizations and corporate law examined during Business Law I. This course will provide students with an in—depth understanding of the complexities of law in the business sector via the examination of more complex legal and business issues, many of which may be tested on the regulatory component of the Uniform CPA exam. This course will include an analysis and discussion of the corporate laws and regulatory pronouncements governing the complex business decision-making process. The class will examine such diverse topics as: corporate tax issues, merger and acquisitions issues, liability and contingency issues including bankruptcy and global regulatory reporting requirements. In addition, we will discuss the impact of sales and lease contracts; negotiable financing instruments and banking in detail; examine secured transactions, creditors’ rights and bankruptcy as a fundamental business strategy tool and the impact of debt forgiveness on legal and reporting decision-making issues.
