The course focuses on why and how information technology should be used to meet organizational goals. An introduction to programming techniques in Java and object-oriented development in general. Topics on Web development using Java will also be included. Coursework will consist of hands-on exercises where the student is guided by the instructor and also works independently on assigned real-life projects. At the end of the course students will have the necessary knowledge, skills, and a set of developed programs allowing them to o apply for an introductory Java programming job right after the course. The course provides students with the fundamental concepts and tools needed to understand the emerging role of business analytics in organizations. Through lectures, hands on analyses, and various assignments, students learn how to apply basic business analytics tools in a spreadsheet environment. Students will become familiar with advanced Microsoft Excel functions and the use of Excel in solving analytical problems. Students also learn how to communicate with analytics professionals to effectively use and interpret analytic models and results for making better business decisions. The course covers managerial statistical tools in descriptive analytics and predictive analytics, including regression. Emphasis is on applications, concepts and interpretation of results as well as conducting statistical analyses. Students form groups to collect and analyze data, and to write and present a final report.

INFO 315 - COMPUTER LAW AND ETHICS
An interactive, broad-based course for students interestd in technology and ethics. Students will partiipcate in debates, role plays, and frequent in-class assignments. One short written assignment, very specific to one or more issues in the course, will be required. There will also be a group project requiring a written ethical analysis and an oral presentation. Some classes may be taught in hybrid form, i.e., partially online. The hybrid portion of the course requires viewing streaming video and completing online quizzes and assignments. Some topics covered are: computer waste and mistake, the impact of technology on quality of life, gender-based issues, social networking, privacy concerns, intellectual property issues, computer security, software development, computer crime, hate sites, and management of IT organizations.

INFO 316 - INTRO TO DIGITAL FORENSICS
This course provides an overall examination of the role of digital forensic processes in the incident response and investigatory process. Students will learn different aspects of computer and cyber crime and ways in which to uncover, protect, exploit, and document digital evidence. Students will be exposed to different types of tools (both software and hardware), techniques and procedure, and be able to use them to perform rudimentary forensic investigations. This course studies techniques and tools in computing investigation, digital evidence collection, recovery, and analysis. Topics include: Legal issues relating to digital evidence, recovering deleted files and discovering hidden information, reconstructing user activity from e-mail, temporary Internet files and cached data, cell phone and mobile device forensics, and computer forensics reporting. This course introduces the student to forensic practices in incident response, evidence identification, gathering, preservation, and analysis, and applies that introduction through various lab projects. INFO 340 - CYBERSECURITY
This course covers a variety of topics that will prepare those students who wish to develop a skill set in data security administration or who wish to enhance their current information systems expertise by gaining additional knowledge in the field of computer security. This course is concerned with the fundamental principles of computer security. It covers privacy concerns, secrecy issues, operational security, physical security, hardware security, software security, communications security, and data security. The topics to be covered during the semester will range from access control and data classification to cryptography and risk management. Students will also be instructed in how to design and create disaster recovery plans, computer policies and standards, system security architectures and physical security controls. Legal aspects of computer security will also be covered as will auditing in a secured environment and managing as a day-to-day security administrator. In-class projects will focus upon critical thinking for security managers in mainframe, midrange and network environments as well as research assignments and basic policy creation. Lab Fee.

INFO 342 - SYSTEMS ANALYSIS AND DESIGN
(Formerly: INFO 231) This course provides instruction in the systems-development life cycle in order to gain an understanding of how to solve today's business problems. Students will be exposed to several system development methodologies, including the waterfall, object oriented, prototyping, and agile approaches. Although there is no programming in this class, there will be numerous hands-on individual and group exercises and a student project. Students will employ graphical and other modeling tools including UML. Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to understand the basics of system development methodologies, determine system requirements, and transition from requirements to analysis and from analysis to design.
