HIST 397 - MILITARY HISTORY: AN ADVANCED SURVEY |
This course will examine the evolution of warfare from the development of the nation-state in the 18th century, to the wars of the present. It will familiarize students with the structures of militaries and their relationships to governments and societies. It will address the major technological changes in conflict, as well as the changes in warfighting that reflect changed attitudes toward war itself. The goal of the course is for students to understand how war is made, and why it is made that way.
