HIST 396 - HIST OF SCIENTIFIC THOUGHT |
This course promotes a critical understanding of the nature and generation of scientific knowledge. It is less a history of science and more an analysis of scientific ideas philosophically and historically. Emphasis will be placed upon contemporary ideas in science, their roots in intellectual history, and their foundations in the traditions of philosophy. The study of the historical developments of science will serve principally as a means and a context for critical analyses of particular ideas in science. This course is cross listed with SCIN396.
This course is the required SCP (Science in a Cultural Perspective) course for the Inegrated Science Studies major.
