POLI 389 - W.I.I. INTERNSHIP / COOP |
Students will examine their role in their placement organization or institution in Washington DC in order to approach the transition from college to career. By exploring how the values of a liberal education—active engagement, critical thinking, respect, problem solving, openness to new experience and different viewpoints—students will understand how they connect to professionalism, citizenship, and personal growth. Through small group interaction, reflection, and peer critique, students will work on honing personal and professional skills, and in particular writing skills; engaging in practical skill-building in public speaking; understanding office politesse and protocol; and, developing career planning and business writing techniques. Students must be at least a Sophomore and have a 2.0 or better average to be eligible. Transfer students must have completed at least 16 credits at Ramapo.
