CHEM 450 - SPECIAL TOPICS |
The descriptions and topics of this course change from semester-to-semester, as well as from instructor-to-instructor. Prerequisite: varies with the topic offered. CHEM 450. This course will focus on the elucidation of the structures of organic molecules by interpretation of spectroscopic and spectrometric data. Methods to be discussed include mass spectrometry, infrared spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (both 1D and 2D), and UV-visible spectroscopy. The physical and chemical principles of each method will be discussed.
