ARAB 201 - INTERMEDIATE I - ARABIC |
This is the third semester of Modern Standard Arabic (MSA). The course will help students move from Novice High to Intermediate Middle Level (ACTFL scale). Students will focus on acquiring additional vocabulary and knowledge of the fundamental grammatical and morphological structures for attaining a higher level of comprehension and communication. By the end of the course, students should have internalized the general principles of word formation, becoming able to recognize roots and patterns, and use the dictionary with ease. Students should be able to read authentic Arabic texts with a good understanding by reading and using context skills, knowledge of grammar, background knowledge, and the dictionary. They are also expected to improve on their communications kills beyond the simple short sentence format.
