TOPICS: NURSING LEADERSHIP & ORGANIZATIONAL SYSTEMS - This course will provide students with an introduction to systems theory and economics of healthcare organizations. Students will explore global, political, economic, ethical and legal factors on healthcare services and reimbursement. Students will analyze the impact of organizational structure on providing, safe high quality care and identify strategies to improve care.
TOPICS: EPIDEMIOLOGY AND POPULATION HEALTH - This course will provide students with an opportunity to explore the determinants of health. Students will examine sociocultural, biological, behavioral and environmental factors associated with the distribution of disease. Students will examine epidemiologic data related to risk factors, exposure, and prevention strategies. Students will interpret and analyze data to identify health promotion and tertiary care for patients experiencing acute and chronic health conditions. Students will focus on ways to engage communities in population health activities. Students will identify ways to provide value based care, improve quality of care, reduce or eliminate disparities to improve health outcomes.
