EDTC 660 - NETWORKING AND HARDWARE
This course will provide the learner with an overview and hands-on experiences in the areas of hardware, software, maintenance, and problem-solving issues involved in computer information technology and network administration in educational settings. The course emphasizes a hands-on approach, supported by appropriate lecture and discussion, that provides the student with the fundamentals and essentials of state-of-the-art network and hardware technology as it is applied to the development and implementation of networks in K-12 schools. The course serves as a general introduction to hardware, computer maintenance, and networking including local and wide area network technology. Hands-on training will occur via two major components: (1) students will repair and work with a given set of computers, and (2) students will work in a computer laboratory where they will have opportunities to design and implement mini-versions of specified networks.
