THEA 206 - 20th CENTURY FASHION, ART & CULTURE |
The history of costume and fashion throughout the 20'“ century and
the early 21“ century is the focus of this course. The main emphasis of this course is on western dress, but the clothing of the Far East are included, particularly for its influence on Western dress. The course time will be spent on lecture and discussion with powerpoint presentations, viewing major costume films and hands on examination of period garments. Students will view not only
costume holdings in museums, but paintings and photographs and will study and analyze critical readings and news articles relating to culture and fashion. This course will explore the interconnection between fashion, art, trade and culture in each decade of the 20'“ century.
