THEA 145 - TANGO I |
Tango I introduces students to the techniques, vocabulary, music and history of
Argentine Tango. The primary focus during class time will be on learning to dance traditional Tango, negotiating its foundational concept as a social and improvisational partnered form. In addition, Tango's origins and history as well as its cultural influences and contributions will be explored through readings, video viewings, discussions, response papers, an artist’s talk and a class trip to a local milonga. By the end of the semester, Tango l students will have gained a deep understanding and appreciation of Argentine Tango as a global cultural
art form. In addition, students will acquire the skills and confidence to participate in milongas anywhere in the world.
