HIST 102 - MODERN AMERICA SINCE 1865
This course covers American history from 1865 to the present. We examine the major events that impacted domestic society and enabled America to assume global power. We cover a variety of topics, including immigration, work, social reform, war, peace, electoral politics, mass culture, economic crisis and bundance, various civil rights movements, family life, and sexuality. As we explore each topic, we focus on how people, ideas, and popular movements have interacted with the state along gender, race/ethnic, and class lines. Lectures, discussions, course assignments, and primary and secondary source readings will help you to develop a framework for thinking like a historian.
