Seminar in Contemporary Educational Leadership: Theory into Practice 1
(4.0 credits) (EDLD609) is taken in conjunction with the co-requisite Field-Based Administrative Internship l (EDLD 610; 2.0 credits). The Theory into Practice I/II sequence provides prospective educational leaders a cohesive and authentic opportunity to examine the current professional standards, best practice research and theoretical underpinnings of K-12 educational leadership, and its influence on school climate, culture, management, and operations. Specifically, students will advance understanding and internalization of effective school leadership through careful observation, authentic case study, reflective practice, collegial discourse, and written response. While all areas of school leadership will be examined, Theory into Practice 1 will focus more specifically on: school mission, vision and core values; ethics and professional norms; equity and cultural responsiveness; school culture and climate; curriculum, instruction and assessment; and SLLA preparation (licensure exam).
