MSWK 663 - SOCIAL WORK PRACTICE WITH CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS |
This one credit intensive course addresses a trauma-informed approach to practice with children, adolescents and their families. Trauma, Attaclnnent and Development theories anchor assessment and interventions with children, adolescents and their families. Models of best practices informed by evidence based interventions such as play therapy and trauma-focused cognitive behavior
therapy will be reviewed. Clinical issues related to culturally competent practice and the role and purpose of collaborative practices working with children and families (caretakers, schools, community services, child welfare, day care centers, etc.) will be examined.
