This writing intensive course engages in an exploration of contemporary issues of law and society through the lens of law, power, and inequality. It will study why some forms of inequality persists in our societies, how law interacts and engages with socio economic inequalities and what that reveals about our political, economic and social sustainability. It will critically examine several dimensions of inequalities in society--such as class, race, gender, ethnicity, sexuality and environment, its historical and institutional context and its relevance to debates on law and society.
