EDUC 360 - INTRODUCTION TO SPECIAL EDUCATION |
This course provides preservice teachers with an introduction to the current knowledge and understanding of children and adolescents with special needs. Content includes the following: history, legislation, etiology, characteristics, needs, impact on families, and existing and emerging technologies. The focus will be on assessment, support services, and effective pedagogical strategies for helping students with a wide spectrum of special needs, including gifted and talented, reach their optimum level of achievement in the least restrictive school settings.
