Utilize the concepts of the nursing process in caring for families in the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods. The student is provided with an opportunity to understand the family as a unified whole, its patterns and organization and the implications of common and complex health patterns from conception through birth. The student is also provided with an opportunity to understand the patterns and organization of families, growth and developmental perspecives, and the nursing implications of common and complex health patterns from infancy through adolescence.
