LANG 305 - FRENCH CONVERSATION AND COMPOSITION |
This course is designed to develop students' conversation and writing skills in French. Students learn first to analyze the structure and style of diverse literary, journalistic, and informal texts of the French-speaking world. These texts exemplify different genres or writing functions and provide high-quality models of prose that students are to imitate in their own written assignments. Written expression is improved as students grow more at ease with a variety of writing tasks. For the conversation part of this course, short reading selections from current French publications organized into a variety of topics encourage students to react, to talk and to exchange ideas, in short to practice and improve their conversational skills as they advance in their study of French.
