LANG 303 - FRENCH CIVILIZATION |
An overview of contemporary France through the study of the social, political, economic, intellectual and artistic manifestations of French culture today that will raise awareness of intercultural perspectives. The topics covered are: lifestyles in contemporary France, the concept of the State as it influences the social, educational and working environments of different groups within contemporary French society, the structure of the government and its evolutions and "revolutions," the economy of contemporary France, the fourth leading economic power in the world, the cultural and artistic life and French attitudes toward culture and, finally, issues and concerns that affect cultural and ethnic minorities within France today.
