MATH 290 MATHEMATICAL STRUCTURE. This course is designed to build a firm foundation for subsequent mathematics courses. The first half of the course focuses on Logic and Set Theory. The second half will introduce the student to one or more of the following mathematical disciplines: Analysis, Topology, Group Theory. The primary goal of the course is to instill in the students an appreciation of the essential role axioms and definitions play throughout the development of mathematics, and to ease the transition to higher level mathematics courses.
