EDTC 644 - SCIENCE FICTION AND TEACHING |
The use of science fiction as a teaching tool to spark creativity, inspire delight in reading, foster curiosity and interest in science, and to explore technologies (current, projected, and improbable). The class will draw on a mix of texts, films, TV clips, and electronic resources. Two-thirds of the class will involve common texts, materials, and group construction and participation in an electronic MOO habitat. One-third of the class will be guided individual student reading and reviewing of science fiction materials appropriate to the teaching level of the students.
