THEA 334 - THEATER AND SOCIETY II
This course examines how theater served as a reflection of the social issues of the turbulent years (1960-1974) in America. Plays by playwrights such as Alice Childress, Tennessee Williams, Luis Valdez, and Imiri Baraka show how the American theater dealt with such social issues as the civil rights movement, drug use, the women's movement, the anti-war movement and homosexuality. The class will read a wide range of plays in relation to the events of this time, the social issues, and the values of American society as reflected in these dramas.
