LITR 319 - MAJOR AUTHORS: |
Each section focuses on one or two individual authors whose work has had a sustained impact on literary culture. Authors studied vary from semester-to-semester, as well as from instructor-to-instructor. Students should expect to engage in sophisticated discussion of literary topics ranging from contemporary criticism to literary biography. The course requires substantial writing and research. Recent topics include (among others): Jane Austen, Eugene O'Neill and Tennessee Williams, Geoffrey Chaucer, Herman Melville, Charlotte Bronte, and J.R.R. Tolkien.
