CHEM 426 - EXPERIMENTAL BIOCHEMISTRY: LECTURE AND LAB
The lecture course (CHEM 426) will introduce students to the biochemical principles of protein and nucleic acids (structure and function of protein and nucleic acids), enzymes (enzyme kinetics and mechanisms), central dogma of life (replication, transcription and translation) and metabolism (glycolysis, citric acid cycle, lipid metabolism, photosynthesis and nitrogen metabolism). Required for Biochemistry majors and recommended for Chemistry and Biology majors. The lab course (CHEM 426) will introduce students to basic biochemical laboratory techniques such as separation and identification amino acids, tecniques in chromatography, structural analysis of peptides, purification of lipids, carbohydrate analysis, DNA analysis and protein analysis. Lab Fee.
