ARTS 314 - STUDIO PHOTOGRAPHY |
Students will work on their assignments and projects within and outside the studio environment. Emphasis will be placed on the students developing and following their instincts and observations as a way of clarifying their direction, vision and voice. The application of studio theory and methodology through the use of visual and technical tools will help guide students to communicate and translate their ideas into the printed image. Students will be asked to maintain a journal, writing a weekly analysis and critique of their various photographic assignments. The journal should chart the student's growth and formulation of ideas and concepts that culminate in the final thesis project. Additional writing assignments will include a mid-and final term paper. This narrative in essay format will be a topic of the student's choosing, the parameters of which will be a critical exploration and analysis of studio photography as it transcends function and becomes art.
